Overview
Plate helps you photograph or import a restaurant menu, estimate calorie and macronutrient ranges, and compare dishes against preferences you provide. Plate does not require an account, does not show advertising, and does not sell personal data.
Menu photos and text
Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose to scan or import a menu. Text recognition and menu analysis run on your device. Plate does not upload menu photos or recognized menu text to SideEye Labs.
Preferences and history
Your dietary goals, restrictions, ingredient preferences, menu analyses, and dish choices are used to personalize recommendations inside the app. In the updated app, your name, preferences, recognized menu text, menu analyses, and order notes are saved locally on your device and may be included in device backups. They are not associated with an online account or uploaded to SideEye Labs. Earlier builds kept this information only in memory.
Sharing and deletion
When you share a choice card, the selected order text is sent to the destination you choose through the system share sheet. In the updated app, Delete local data in Profile removes saved menus, notes, your name, and preferences from this device. This does not remove earlier exports or backups, cancel subscriptions, or erase purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat. Uninstalling the app also removes its local storage.
Subscriptions
Plate Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and managed with RevenueCat. SideEye Labs does not receive or store your payment-card details. RevenueCat processes purchase history and a persistent anonymous app-user identifier for subscription functionality and analytics, including entitlement validation and purchase restoration.
RevenueCat also processes interactions with its paywall and subscription-management screens, such as impressions, cancellations, closes, and component interactions, associated with that identifier. These events support subscription analytics and functionality. They do not include your menu photos, recognized menu text, preferences, or local order notes.
If you choose a feedback reason from the fixed answers offered on a subscription-management screen, that selected reason is sent to RevenueCat with the anonymous app-user identifier for subscription analytics. The current configuration does not offer contact-detail or support-ticket collection through RevenueCat. Plate does not require an app account or forward your name or email address to RevenueCat.
No medical advice
Calorie and macronutrient figures are estimates and can vary with portion size, ingredients, and preparation. Plate is a decision-support tool, not medical or dietary advice.
